Many Indian companies are engaged in polymer import and exports. Polymer as a product has many uses in our daily lives. Some little known facts about polymer are discussed below.
Polymers are generally categorised under three headings:
Thus, the bottle in which we store water, or the stretchable pants we wear, and the fabric which goes into making it, everything has polymer in it.
Other than polymers, thermal and carbonless papers are also widely used nowadays.

- SPECIALITY POLYMERS: This section includes wax or non wax based adhesives, paraffin polymer resins like polyolefin, heat sealable resin, barrier raisins and so on. Petroleum and white oils used for cosmetics also comes under this section.
- COMMODITY POLYMERS: It includes fillers which are aimed at Di-Octyl Phthalate, Polypropylene and Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate. Resins are used in suspension and emulsion.
- OTHER POLYMERS: This segment includes inks, coatings and paints. Polymers are also used in textiles, leathers, wires and packaging.

Other than polymers, thermal and carbonless papers are also widely used nowadays.
- THERMAL PAPERS: It is a special fine paper coated with a kind of chemical which changes the colour of the paper when exposed to heat. It is used in thermal printers and in devices such as cash register and credit card terminals.
- CARBONLESS PAPERS: This type of paper is plated with reactive clay along with micro-encapsulated dye. When something is written on the sheet, the pressure created by the nib of the pen helps in breaking up of the microcapsules, and consequently spills the dye. Dyes and chemicals used in these papers are crystal violet lactone, trimetallic anhydride, disopropryll naphthalene, p-toluene sulfinate of Michler's hydrol etc. These papers are commonly used in places where duplicates like receipts and invoices are required.
